18 December, Honolulu, Hawaii–  The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu informs the public that nominations are now open for the 2024 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas (PAFIOO).  The nomination period is from 18 December 2023 to 30 May 2024.

The PAFIOO are conferred by the President of the Philippines every two years to honor and recognize Filipino / foreign individuals and organizations abroad who contribute to Philippine development initiatives and promote the cause and interest of the Filipino diaspora overseas.  

Since 1991, a total of 541 awards have been given by the Presidents of the Republic of the Philippines to  individuals and organizations overseas from 55 countries and territories.

The PAFIOO has four award categories:

LINGKOD SA KAPWA PILIPINO (LINKAPIL) AWARD

This award is conferred on Filipino individuals or organizations for their exceptional or significant contribution to progress and development in the Philippines.

BANAAG AWARD

This award is conferred on Filipino individuals or organizations for their contributions which have significantly benefited a sector of the diaspora, or advanced the cause and interest of overseas Filipino communities.

PAMANA NG PILIPINO AWARD

 This award is conferred on overseas Filipino individuals, who, in exemplifying the talent and industry of the Filipino, have brought the country honor and recognition through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of their work or profession.

KAANIB NG BAYAN AWARD

This award is conferred to foreign individuals (natural-born) and organizations for their exceptional or significant contribution to Philippine progress and development, or in advancing the cause or promoting the interests of overseas Filipino communities.

Any individual or organization, whether Filipino or foreign, based in Hawaii and American Samoa may submit nominations for the awards on or before  30 April 2024 to:
