Renunciation of Philippine citizenship is a voluntary act of giving up one’s Philippine citizenship after acquiring foreign citizenship.

A Filipino citizen (natural-born or naturalized), at least 18 years of age, may renounce his/her Philippine citizenship.

Requirements:

  1. Affidavit of Renunciation of Philippine Citizenship - Fill out two (2) copies of the affidavit which can be downloaded via this link: Affidavit of Renunciation of Philippine Citizenship form. DO NOT SIGN the form as it should be signed in front of a Consular Officer.
  2. Philippine Passport - Submit original and two (2) photocopies of the passport data page. The passport will be canceled and surrendered to the Philippine Consulate General.
  3. (For Dual Citizens) Identification Certificate, Oath of Allegiance, Order of Approval - Submit original and two (2) photocopies. The original documents will be canceled and surrendered to the Philippine Consulate General.
  4. PSA Birth Certificate / Report of Birth - Submit original and two (2) photocopies.
  5. US Certificate of Naturalization / US Passport - Submit two (2) photocopies.
  6. (For those born in the US) Proof of Parent/s’ Philippine Citizenship at the the time of child's birth - Submit two (2) photocopies of parent/s proof of Filipino citizenship such as US Naturalization Certificate, US green card, US visa, or Philippine passport.
  7. Processing Fee: $50.00 for notarization of Affidavit (Payable in cash, US postal money order, debit/credit card, Manager’s check, or Cashier’s check. Personal checks are not accepted.)

Additional documentation may be required based on the documents presented and circumstances of the applicant. 

HOW TO APPLY:

Step 1

Book an appointment through https://kiosk.na4.qless.com/kiosk/app/home/19 

Step 2

On the appointment day, submit the complete documentary requirements and sign the Affidavit of Renunciation in front of the Consular Officer.

Step 3

Pay the appropriate processing fee at the Cashier and receive the receipt.  

Step 4

Return to the assigned window on the date and appointed time indicated by the Consular Officer. Receive the duly notarized Affidavit of Renunciation of Philippine Citizenship and Certification. 

Step 5

The Consulate will forward copies of the Affidavit and Certification on Renunciation of Citizenship, including supporting documents to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and the Bureau of Immigration.
