Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, 16 November 2022 – The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu supported Dream, a musical presentation which premiered at the historic Hawaii Theater Center last 11 November. The musical is inspired by the true story of local Filipino-American students in Hawaii who spearheaded the Filipino Curriculum Project (FCP). FCP, which was founded by then Punahou High School sophomore Marissa Halagao in 2020, aims to promote inclusion, representation, diversity and pride in their Filipino culture and heritage through the establishment of a Filipino curriculum in Hawaii schools.
Written and produced by Mr. Avelino “AJ” J. Halagao, Jr., a Filipino-American leader and President of the HEI Charitable Foundation, Dream introduced Taliya Wood in the lead role of Marissa Hala and starred renowned Broadway artists Kristian Lei, Joan Almedilla, Deedee Magno Hall and Jennifer Paz, all of whom played the lead role of “Kim” in Miss Saigon productions in various localities.
