30 January, Honolulu – Consul General Emil Fernandez officiates the installation of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Hawaii (UPAAH) 2023-2024 Officers and Board of Directors at the Filipino Community Center in Waipahu last 29 January.  At the event, Consul General Fernandez also recognized Mr. Geminiano “Toy” Arre, recipient of the UP Legacy Award, for his exemplary service and excellent leadership. Mr. Arre is the longest-serving Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of the Filipino Community Center, having held that position for more than eight years. He is also the longest-living member of the Knights of Rizal in Hawaii with over 25 years, and the first City & County-appointed cabinet member of Filipino ancestry.  He founded the UP Club in 1972 and served as its first president.  The UP Club eventually evolved into the UPAAH.  (Photo Credits: Jomar Sadie)
