15 March 2023 – Consul General Emil Fernandez called on Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke of the State of Hawaii, who was elected to office last November.  Among items discussed during their meeting were the welfare of the 350,000-strong Filipino community, efforts to increase two-way trade and investments, and people-to-people ties, including Hawaii’s sister-state relations with provinces in the Philippines. Lt. Gov. Luke noted that Filipinos, who comprise approximately one-fourth of Hawaii’s 1.4 million population, are the fastest growing ethnic minority in the state.  (END)
