5 May 2023, Honolulu – Consul General Emil Fernandez received Governor Lemanu Mauga of American Samoa at the Philippine Consulate in Honolulu today during the latter’s visit to Hawaii.  The two officials discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, including the welfare of Filipinos in the U.S. territory, its need for healthcare professionals and teachers, and possible establishment of more direct airline routes. Consul General Fernandez was recently in Pago Pago to attend American Samoa’s Flag Day activities and lead the Consulate’s outreach mission to render services to the thousands of Filipinos living and working in the South Pacific island.  (END)
