PRESS RELEASE NO. 96-2023

Captain Keith Endow and Firefighter Alika Naluai of the Honolulu Fire Department brief Consulate personnel on importance of CPR.

13 September 2023, Honolulu – Recognizing the need to equip personnel with lifesaving knowledge to help them in their professional and personal lives, officers and staff members of the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu were provided training for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by representatives of the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD). HFD Captain Keith Endow and Firefighter 3 Alika Naluai facilitated the training at the Consulate last September 12.

During the training, the instructors demonstrated how to perform Hands-Only CPR on adults, children, and infants, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and emphasized the four steps when administering CPR. They advised participants to (1) ensure that the scene is safe, (2) check responsiveness of the person by shaking or shouting at them, (3) call for help through 911, and (4) press hard and fast when doing compressions.
