24 October 2023, Honolulu – Consul General Emil Fernandez received the Helobung Community Dance Troupe, Inc. led by its Director, Mr. Michael Yambok. The dance troupe is in Honolulu as part of its “Tales, Tunes, and Threads of the T’bolis” tour in the US, organized through the US Department of State’s Center Stage initiative.
Helobung (“endless joy”) is a community organization from South Cotabato, which aims to preserve and promote T’boli culture and traditions through performance arts. In Honolulu, the group is scheduled to perform at the PA’I Foundation on October 24, the Barbara Smith Amphitheater, University of Hawaii at Manoa on October 27 and the Waipahu Public Library on October 28.
