 27 October 2023, Honolulu – Consul General Emil Fernandez welcomed Representative Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino, Partylist – OFW at the Consulate today for discussions on the situation of Filipinos in the State of Hawaii.

Consul General Fernandez briefed Congresswoman Magsino on the situation of Filipinos and Filipino Americans in the state and the Consulate’s efforts to promote their welfare, including the consular and assistance to nationals services extended to Filipino nationals affected by the Maui wildfires.  She was also apprised of the Consulate’s engagement with the various Filipino community associations and the ongoing overseas voter registration drive.  

On her part, Rep. Magsino updated the Consul General of her initiatives in Congress to advance the welfare of overseas Filipinos, particularly the bills she authored on the Magna Carta for Filipino seafarers and e-voting. 

Rep. Magsino will be the Guest of Honor at the “LOVE” Fashion Show, which will be held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village this 29 October featuring the 2024 holiday collection designs of Paris-trained Filipino designer Amir Sali.  (END)
