25 January 2024, Honolulu – In a luncheon at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam last January 22, Consul General Emil Fernandez bid farewell to General Kenneth Wilsbach, Commander of the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), who has been tapped by the Biden administration to head the Langley-based Air Combat Command, the U.S. Air Force’s largest umbrella organization for air warfare. Gen. Wilsbach is a multi-decorated pilot, who has served as PACAF Commander since July 2020.  Both men extended their gratitude to one another for their part in further strengthening crucial alliances in the region.

PACAF is the branch of the U.S. military in charge of organizing, training and equipping 46,000 troops and civilian staff spread across Air Force bases in Alaska, Hawaii, South Korea, Japan and Guam. Its commander ensures that squadrons of fighter and bomber jets, surveillance aircraft and more are ready to be tasked by the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) on missions around the region.  (END)
