31 January 2024, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA –  A team from the the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, led by Consul Grace Bulos, visited Mountain View Farms in Waianae Valley, Oahu last January 27, to learn how the family-run business utilizes natural farming techniques to grow vegetables with no fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides, and raise vegetarian-fed pigs with no hormones, antibodies, vaccines.

Mr. David Wong, founder and owner of the farm, provided an account of their operations and the techniques employed in line with the farm’s mission “to help people achieve and maintain a wholesome healthy lifestyle free of all chronic diseases.”  Mr. Wong emphasized how everything is interconnected, saying “it all starts with healthy soil, which will produce healthy plants, healthy humans, healthy environment and ultimately, a healthy planet.  You are what you eat, and what it eats.”

Mountain View Farms is a modest family farm, which operated as a dairy farm for 60 years before it shifted to growing plants and raising pigs in 2014 using natural farming techniques.

Among the farm’s products are moringa leaf capsules and moringa seed oil, and pork.  The farm also sells the Farmacy Garden Boxes, which were created so families and communities can use their own home-grown produce for their meals as a healthy and less costly alternative to expensive store-bought produce.

On October 27, 2023, the Knights of Rizal - Maysa Ohana Chapter and Hui Mala ‘Ai donated a Farmacy Garden Box to the Consulate.  Consul Bulos informed Mr. Wong that the vegetables are healthy and that Consulate personnel have already been able to harvest produce consisting of Manoa lettuce, spring onions, globe eggplants and tomatoes.
