4 May 2024, Honolulu – In a ceremony held yesterday at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Admiral Samuel Paparo replaced Admiral John Aquilino as commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM).  Representing the Philippines at the event were Consul General Emil Fernandez, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner, and AFP Liaison Officer to USINDOPACOM Captal Aldrin Doctor.  Consul General Fernandez extended his heartfelt congratulations to Admiral Paparo, formerly the U.S. Pacific Fleet Commander, and vowed the Consulate’s utmost support in helping enhance Philippines-U.S. security ties.  He also conveyed his profuse gratitude to Admiral Aquilino for his crucial role in further deepening the two countries’ military relations and staunch efforts in realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific.  (END)
