10 May 2024, Honolulu – Consul General Emil Fernandez served as a special guest of the organizers of the 2024 FilGrad program, held today at the Kennedy Theatre of the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Close to 100 graduates participated in the momentous ceremony that celebrated the achievements of the remarkable young men and women. Delivering the keynote address was Mr. Jovanie Dela Cruz, Executive Director of the State of Hawaii’s Office of Community Services, who emphasized the importance of education and gratitude to those who contributed to the graduates’ success. FilGrad began in 2017 when graduating Filipino students collaborated with the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s College of Education - Tinalak Advisory Council to stage its initial ceremony at the university’s Art Auditorium.
