15 May 2024, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA –  Philippine Consul General Emil Fernandez received Major General Leodevic Guinid, Vice Commander of the Philippine Army (PA) and his delegation, who are in Hawaii this week for the annual Land Power in the Pacific (LANPAC) Symposium  & Exposition.

LANPAC, which brings together government, academic, and industry representatives, is organized by the Association of the United States Army (AUSA). This year’s iteration is reportedly the largest with a total of 2,000 attendees from 30 countries, including 13 army chiefs from around the world.

This year’s LANPAC comes at the heels of the Balikatan exercises in the Philippines with 17,600 military personnel from the Philippines, United States, Australia, and France taking part. Moreover, army-to-army exercises involving the Philippines and US, called Salaknib, are currently ongoing in the Philippines.

Consul General Fernandez and Major General Guinid noted the strong Philippine-US defense ties at many levels of the military, including in the army. The LANPAC likewise provides the Philippine Army delegation the opportunity to engage bilaterally with counterparts from other countries in the region. (END)
