PRESS RELEASE NO. 59-2024

Consul Pamela Durian-Bailon administered the Oath of Allegiance to 28 applicants for Philippine citizenship reacquisition/retention under Republic Act 9225 in Kona

28 May 2024, Honolulu – The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu conducted another successful consular outreach mission in Kona, Hawaii (Big Island) last May 24 to 26. This mission marks the Consulate’s third consular outreach effort this year, providing vital services to approximately 170 Filipinos and Filipino-Americans residing in Kona.

Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Consulate personnel for rendering these essential services closer to their community. Due to Hawaii’s unique geography, residents from other islands require travel by plane to access the Consulate’s services. The outreach effort significantly eased the burden of the Filipino community members in Kona.

Consul Pamela Durian-Bailon led the outreach team composed of Ms. Jonifer Mislang, Administrative Officer, Ms. Gia Cristina Victorio, Collecting Officer, Ms. Mia Gaspar, Consular Assistant, Mr. Hermogenes Cayabyab, ATN Assistant, and Mr. Salmineo De Castro, Property Officer.

During the mission, Consul Bailon convened a town hall meeting, attended by some 20 members of the Filipino community in Kona. The activity provided Filipino community members with information on the administration’s Bagong Pilipinas campaign and the Consulate’s services. Attendees were likewise invited to participate in the Consulate’s Filipino Food Week (FFW) later this year as well as in the Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour this July.

The outreach was organized with support from the Office of the Hawaii County Mayor, through Ms. Jane Clement, Executive Assistant. (END)
