5 July 2024, Honolulu – Consul General Emil Fernandez attended the reception onboard ROKS Cheonjabong last July 2 hosted by the Commander of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy’s Pacific Training Squadron, Captain Moon Chonghwa, at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Honolulu. ROK naval vessels, air assets and 840 soldiers are participating for the 18th time in the ongoing RIMPAC exercise. South Korea is a key player in the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, supplying essential military equipment and support. The two countries are enhancing defense ties amid growing shared security concerns in the region. (END)
