5 July 2024, Honolulu –  Consul Pamela Durian-Bailon conveyed the best wishes of the Philippines to Major General Gavin Gardner, new Commanding General of the 8th Theater Sustainment Command, at the change of command ceremony last 4 July at Schofield Barracks in Honolulu.  Maj.Gen. Gardner took over the helm from Major General Jered Helwig, who served as the 8th TSC’s Commanding General for two years.

In his speech, Maj.Gen. Gardner thanked the representatives of the Consulates General whose presence at the change of command ceremony “demonstrate what we do together as allies and partners…to ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific.”  When Consul Bailon greeted them, both Maj.Gen, Helwig and Maj. Gen. Gardner expressed warm regard for the Philippines and the efforts of the PH-US alliance in the region. 

A vital sustainment unit of the US Army, the 8th Theater Sustainment Command provides comprehensive logistical support, including supply, maintenance, transportation, and engineering services across the Pacific theater. (END)
