05 August 2024, Honolulu–  Consul General Emil Fernandez extended a warm welcome to a distinguished delegation of local government officials from Laoag, Ilocos Norte, led by Mayor Michael Marcos Keon.  The delegation is visiting Hawaii at the invitation of Honolulu City Council Chair Tommy Waters.  Mayor Keon and his team will engage in discussions with Honolulu City officials including Hawaii Mayor Rick Blangiardi on fostering cooperation in critical areas such as climate change and resiliency, disaster management, economic recovery and agriculture sustainability. The delegation will also hold meetings with the Filipino Chamber of Commerce and Industry and engage with leaders and members of the Filipino community in Hawaii, strengthening ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration.
