16 August 2024, Honolulu – Consul General Emil Fernandez extended his profuse gratitude to selected members of the Knights of Rizal (KOR) – Hawaii and Aloha chapters, led by Hawaii Area Commander Sir Jerry Felicitas (4th from right), for their painstaking efforts in refurbishing the bust of the Philippines’ national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, in the grounds of the Philippine Consulate in Honolulu.  Through the years, Rizal’s effigy has served as a venue for several commemorative activities, including Rizal Day and Philippine Independence Day flag-raising ceremonies.  KOR Hawaii and Aloha chapters are part of the civic, global non-profit, non-partisan, secular organization founded in 1951, whose purpose is to promote the study of the life, work and ideals of Dr. Rizal.  Shown with Consul General Fernandez, 4th from left, are (from left to right) Sir Gerald Beckley, Sir Gino Soqueña, Sir Salvador Obaldo, Sir Jerry Felicitas, Sir Raymond Sebastian, Sir Sergio Alcubilla III and Sir Romulo Onnagan.  (END)
