22 August 2024, Honolulu – The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu welcomed the opening of Seafood City Supermarket in Kahului, Maui, which is expected to be a gathering place for both Filipinos and non-Filipinos and an avenue for promoting economic diplomacy and cultural heritage through the flavors and products of the Philippines.  

Consul Grace Bulos represented the Consulate and joined distinguished guests, including Mr. Esteban Go, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Seafood City, Mr. Leo Caires, Chief of Staff of Maui Mayor Richard Bissen, Ms. Soledad Solleza, Honolulu Area Manager of Philippine Airlines and other officials from Maui County, at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the supermarket’s Maui branch today.   

Seafood City is the largest supermarket chain in the US and Canada catering mainly to the Filipino and Asian market. First opened in 1989 in San Diego, California and with current headquarters in Pomona, California, the supermarket has store locations across America and Canada.   

With the opening of Seafood City Maui, the supermarket chain now has 38 branches in the US and Canada. The Maui branch is its second store in the State of Hawaii, with the other location in Waipahu on the island of Oahu, where a large concentration of Filipinos reside (END).
