PRESS RELEASE NO. 108-2024

17 September 2024, Honolulu –  Consul and Acting Head of Post Pamela Durian-Bailon (center, left) conveyed the best wishes of the Philippines to Lieutenant General James F. Glynn (center, right), new Commander of the U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific (MARFORPAC), after the change of command ceremony at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii on 12 September 2024.  Major General Arturo Rojas PN(M) (rightmost), Commandant, Philippine Marine Corps, arrived from the Philippines to attend the ceremony. Joining them is Captain Roldydin Cris Sergio (leftmost), Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attache to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM). 

MARFORPAC operates in the INDOPACOM’s area of responsibility with two-thirds of the Marine Corps' operating forces—the largest in the U.S. Department of Defense. Its mission is to work with allies and partners to help ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

Lt. Gen. William M. Journey (right) relinquished command of the MARFORPAC to Lt.Gen. Glynn (left). Lt.Gen. Journey also retired from the Marine Corps during the ceremony. (END)
