6 November 2024, Honolulu – Consul Grace Bulos represented the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu at the Dr. Jose P. Rizal Legacy Award for Peace and Social Justice Gala organized by the Knights of Rizal (KOR) Aloha Chapter and held at the Filipino Community Center in Waipahu last 3 November. In her message, Consul Bulos thanked the Knights of Rizal for organizing the Gala which serves as an "avenue to honor our forefathers and heroes, celebrate the noteworthy accomplishments of community members and inspire future generations to work together in our collective nation building efforts."
Awardees at the event included Mila Medallon Kaahanui, who was honored for her work in promoting the rights of care home operators, Filipino veterans and immigrants, Reverend Samuel Domingo, who was recognized for his work in promoting peaceful dialogue and the rights of workers, and the Aloha Shriners/Shriners Children’s Hawaii, which was lauded for its philanthropic work through the provision of free pediatric orthopedic and rehabilitation services in Hawaii and the Pacific Basin.
The Order of the Knights of Rizal is an international fraternal organization, which was established in 1911 in Manila and chartered by law under Republic Act 646 signed by then President Elpidio Quirino on 14 June 1951. The purpose of the KOR is to spread the ideals and teachings of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, the Philippines’ national hero, especially among the youth. [END].
