Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, 12 November 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General, represented by Consul Grace Bulos, joined distinguished guests at the Veterans Day Sunset Ceremony held on board the historic Battleship Missouri Memorial last 11 November to commemorate the 70th Veterans Day.

First observed on November 11, 1919, as Armistice Day to commemorate the end of World War I, the occasion was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all U.S. military veterans who have served in both wartime and peacetime.

Major General Stephen F. Logan, Adjutant General, State of Hawaii, Department of Defense, delivered the keynote remarks at the event.  He honored the veterans’ sacrifices, which laid the foundations for the freedom and peace enjoyed today and by future generations and paid tribute to the supportive roles of their families.  He also recognized the role of the State of Hawaii, which served as focal point in the military history of the United States and continues to be a strategic center in defense and security matters.  (END).
