09 December 2024, Honolulu – Vice Consul Leizel Caasi and Ms. Hana Trinidad joined the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Hawaii State Library to officially open the parol exhibit curated by the Filipino Association of University Women last December 7. Through the leadership of Ms. Bey Lontoc, parols (Christmas lanterns) handcrafted by community members are currently on display at the lobby of the library.

The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu expressed its support for the endeavor by lending tala and poinsettia capiz parols from Pampanga, Philippines. These lanterns were originally donated by the Philippine Celebrations Coordinating Committee of Hawaii (PCCCH) to the Consulate in 2023.

The exhibit runs from December 7 to January 6 during the library hours of the Hawaii State Library located at 478 South King St., Honolulu. (END)
