27 November 2024, Honolulu – As part of the Consulate’s support for the 18-day campaign to end violence against women and children, its Gender and Development Section facilitated a discussion on this vital advocacy with former Filipinos who reacquired their Philippine citizenship today. During the session, Vice Consul Leizel Caasi encouraged participants to share how they could contribute to breaking the cycle of violence and supporting survivors. The participants emphasized the importance of speaking up, particularly on behalf of survivors who may struggle to stand up for themselves. They also highlighted the need for sharing information on resources offered by government agencies and non-profit organizations to provide assistance and support to survivors.
“VAW Bigyang Wakas, Ngayon na ang Oras” (End VAW, Now is the Time) shirts were given to two (2) participants who actively participated in the conversation. The campaign is observed annually from November 25 to December 12, as mandated by Presidential Proclamation No. 1172 s. 2006.
