Waipahu High School students watch the documentary “Wisdom Keepers of the Earth.”
05 December 2024, Honolulu – To foster greater engagement with the Filipino American youth, the Philippine Consulate General welcomed students from Waipahu High School yesterday and held a screening of the “Wisdom Keepers of the Earth” documentary. Featured in the documentary are ritualists, healers, and environmental keepers in the Philippines, such as the baylan and mumbaki. An interactive discussion on the intersection of indigenous practices and modern society ensued.
During the visit, the students were briefed on the Consulate’s work and services. The students were also treated to popular Filipino snacks.
The Consulate extends its appreciation to Mr. Karlo Tanjuakio, Founder and Chairman of GoLeanSixSigma, and Waipahu High School officials, including Assistant Principals Kel Hirohata and Matthew Mitsuyuki, and Ms. Kimi Maeda for facilitating the trip. (END)
