9 December 2024, Honolulu – The Philippine Consulate General joined activities commemorating the 83rd Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day last 7 December. Acting Head of Post Pamela Durian-Bailon represented the Consulate at the ceremony in Pearl Harbor, while Consul Grace Bulos attended the 83rd Annual Klipper Memorial Ceremony at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) in Kaneohe Bay.
Co-hosted by the National Park Service and the Navy Region Hawaii, this year’s Pearl Harbor commemoration adopted the theme “Forging Ahead” and honored veterans and passed on the legacy to young service members.
Colonel Jeremy Beaven, US Marine Marine Corps, Commanding Officer of the Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH), delivered the keynote message at the Annual Klipper Memorial Ceremony, giving a detailed narration of the events that unfolded on 7 December 1941 where 18 marines and 2 civilian contractors became the first casualties of the Naval Air Station, now the MCBH. He reiterated the US’ commitment to work with allies to ensure and safeguard the ideals of peace, freedom and democracy. (END)
