25 February 2025, Honolulu – In celebration of National Arts Month, Sentro Rizal Honolulu conducted a painting workshop at the Philippine Consulate General last 22 February under the instruction of Filipino painter, Mr. Aler Auro.
During the workshop, Mr. Auro guided participants to paint a honu (green sea turtle), which was based on a photograph he took while snorkelling at the North Shore of Oahu. Mr. Auro encouraged participants to learn to appreciate their own work and continue improving their skills through practice.
An engineer by profession, Mr. Auro is a self-taught artist whose journey into the world of art began when he worked as a Quality Control Inspector in the oil and gas industry in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. His work often features a diverse range of subjects, from historical figures and modern-day heroes to iconic personalities and portraits of those who hold a special place in his heart. He primarily works with oil and acrylic paints on canvas, capturing the essence of his subjects with remarkable depth and emotion.
