Chef Randy Bangloy of Eating House 1849 presents his Kamayan feast to Consul General Arman Talbo and Hawaii News Now anchor Annalisa Burgos

10 June 2025, Honolulu – As part of the Consulate’s commitment to foster cultural pride and identity, and to support initiatives that promote Filipino cuisine, Consul General Arman R. Talbo has been ramping up engagements with Filipino restaurants, food establishments, and chefs in Hawaii. 

These establishments offer Filipino-Americans a nostalgic culinary experience as well as introduce Filipino cuisine to locals as well as visitors to Hawaii.

In line with this, Consul General Talbo spoke with Ms. Annalisa Burgos of Hawaii News Now, to discuss a wide-range of topics, covering diplomacy, economy, culture, and the Filipino people’s love for food.

Consul General Talbo highlights the Consulate’s efforts to strengthen Filipino-American community engagement and Philippine-Hawaii relations.

During the interview, Consul General Talbo underscored the Consulate’s mission to amplify the voices of Filipino-Americans, and keep the younger generation rooted in their heritage. One such initiative is the kamayan feast this June 11th, prepared by Chef Randy Bangloy of Eating House 1849.
