PRESS RELEASE – 49 -2019

5 July 2019, Honolulu, Hawaii – The Filipino Young Leaders Program (FYLPRO), a joint initiative of the Philippine Embassy and Consulates General in the United States, the Ayala Foundation, Inc. (AFI), and the FYLPRO non-profit organization, is pleased to announce that the search is on for the next batch of young Filipino Americans who will participate in the 2019 FYLPRO Immersion program to be held in the Philippines on November 23-29, 2019.

Launched in 2012 the FYLPRO initiative aims to tap outstanding young Filipino American who possess a sincere desire to be engaged in their respective communities and promote the Philippines’ further development. The immersive program will afford them the opportunity to meet and dialogue with the highest officials and policymakers in the Philippines, leaders of industry, legislators, media, artists, and cultural experts, entrepreneurs (both traditional and social), as well as innovators in different fields.

Every year, FYLPRO works with the Philippine Embassy and Consulates General in the United States to search for the 10 most outstanding, next generation Filipino-Americans or Filipinos in the United States to participate in its distinguished Immersion Program in the Philippines, who meet the following criteria:

  • Leaders no younger than 25 years old and no older than 40 years old by November 23, 2019, the first day of the 2019 Immersion Program;
  • Ready and capable of traveling to the Philippines, arriving in Manila by Friday, November 22, 2019 and departing no earlier than Saturday, November 30, 2019. If selected, the program will shoulder airfare and accommodations;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills within their school, community, workplace or other areas of involvement; and
  • Have potential or demonstrated involvement in the Filipino community, or in issues and/or activities that align with the interest of the Filipino American community or the Philippines.

The deadline for submission of applications is on 1 September 2019 at 11:59 PM EST. The names of the 10 chosen delegates will be announced on 21 September 2019. (END)
