(29 October 2019, Honolulu, Hawaii) – Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) Chairperson and former Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals Secretary Francisco P. Acosta met with five members of the Hawaii House of Representatives Filipino Caucus on 25 October 2019 at the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu.

The meeting between the CFO Chair and Filipino Caucus Chair Representative Henry Aquino, Representative Romy Cachola, Representative Rida Cabanilla Arakawa, Representative Ty Cullen and Representative Mark Hashem provided an opportunity for the Secretary to share with the legislators the CFO’s programs for Filipino migrants, and for the legislators to share with the CFO the accomplishments and plans of the Filipino Caucus.

Views were exchanged on various matters affecting Filipino immigrants in Hawaii which, according to Caucus Chair Representative Aquino, is projected to be the fastest growing migrant group in the state.

Also present at the meeting were Philippine Consul General Joselito A. Jimeno, Philippine Consulate officials and CFO officials Atty. Xerxes E. Cortel, Head Executive Assistant of the Secretary and Legal Counsel; Ms. Michelle Dawn C. Bande, Chief of Staff; Ms. Janet B. Ramos, Supervising Emigrant Services Officer and Interagency Council Against Trafficking Point Person; and Mr. Warner A. Dawal, Senior Emigrant Services Officer and PESO Sense Officer. (END)
