9 August 2019, Honolulu, Hawaii - Mr. Robert Girrier, Rear Admiral, US Navy (Ret.), the new President of Pacific Forum, a Honolulu-based non-profit, non-partisan private foreign research institute which provides timely, informative and innovative analyses of political, security and strategic developments in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region, called on Philippine Consul General Joselito A. Jimeno at the latter’s office in Honolulu, Hawaii, this afternoon.

Mr. Girrier, who succeeds longtime Pacific Forum President, Mr. Ralph Cossa, brings with him over thirty years of maritime experience and extensive operations throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific, Europe and Middle East, in leading the think tank which has established itself as a global reputation as the premier source of Indo-Asia-Pacific policy analysis.

During the courtesy call, Mr. Girrier and Consul General Jimeno discussed maritime security, which is of particular interest and the specialization of Mr. Girrier, the West Philippine Sea, regional security, free trade and globalization.

He also expressed his interest in growing the Pacific Forum’s relationship with the Philippine Consulate General, noting that the Philippines is a treaty ally and longstanding partner of the US. (END).
