(6 November 2019, Honolulu, Hawaii) – Gen. Noel S. Clement, who assumed office as Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff on 24 September 2019, visited the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in Hawaii on 4-6 November 2019. The new AFP Chief of Staff met U.S. INDOPACOM Commander Admiral Philip S. Davidson and other senior U.S. military leaders. He also visited the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, and the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance.         

While in Hawaii, Gen. Clement called on Consul General Joselito A. Jimeno at the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu on 5 November 2019. Accompanying him were Maj. Gen. Augusto D. Dela Peña, Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans, J5 AFP and Maj. Jean Alia Y. Robles, PA. Also present at the call were Deputy Consul General Angelica C. Escalona, Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Brig. Gen. Marlo M. Guloy and AFP Liaison Officer to the U.S. INDOPACOM Col. Joseph P. Archog.

Consul General Jimeno and Gen. Clement discussed developments in the Philippines, the AFP’s modernization program and Philippine-U.S. military relations. (END)
