This is Capt. Baldovino’s second time in Hawaii. In November of 2013, he was the Captain of the BRP Ramon Alcaraz (FF 16), another missile frigate of the Philippine Navy.

The other officers of the Philippine contingent are: Cdr. Phaveena Aguinaldo, Medical Officer, PN, Cdr. Dominic B. Benauro, PN, Lt. Cdr. Alfredo Dimapilis, Jr., PN, Lt. Col. Danilo Facundo, PN (Marines), Lt. Col. Angelica Andrada, PN (Marines), and Lt. James B. Reyes, PN.

RIMPAC (Rim of the Pacific) is the world’s largest international naval exercise. The biennial military exercise this year involves 26 nations, 47 surface ships, five submarines, 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel. RIMPAC 2018 runs from June 27 to August 2.

Although a long time participant of RIMPAC, this is the first time that the Philippines is participating with two ships and one helicopter. The total personnel contingent of the Philippines for RIMPAC 2018 is 570, which includes officers and crew from the Philippine Navy and Marines. (END)
