(19 June 2018, Honolulu, Hawaii) - As one of the major activities to celebrate Philippine Independence this June, month-long, the Filipino community in Hawaii held the 2nd Filipino Cultural Night at the 50th State Fair on 17 June 2018 at the Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Held on Father’s Day and organized by the EK Fernandez Shows and 96.7 KPHI Filipino Radio, the event featured a night filled with fun and entertainment and highlighted the diversity of Filipino culture through dance, music and fashion.

The 50th State Fair is the biggest and longest-running annual summer fair in Honolulu which runs from 25 May to 1 July 2018.

In his welcome remarks, Philippine Consul General Joselito A. Jimeno commended the event organizers for staging an activity which is held outside of a hotel or a function room, and appeals to the general public, particularly the Filipinos at the grassroots level. He added that culture is universal and should be appreciated and enjoyed by everyone regardless of social and economic stature.

The 2nd Filipino Cultural Night featured a line-up of local A-list performers which include The Voice Kids Philippines finalist Yssa Marie West, Coro Filipino, Bulacan Circle of Hawaii and Associates, Congress of Visayan Organization (COVO) and a fashion show by Filipino American couturier Iris Gil Viacrusis.
