Consul General Jimeno is welcomed by Ms. Rose Bautista, the Executive Assistant to Mayor Harry Kim of Hawai’i
(6 June 2018, Honolulu, Hawaii) – The Filipino community in Hilo hosted a Welcome Reception to Consul General Joselito Jimeno last June 1, 2018 at the Aupuni Center in Hilo, Hawaii. Attendees were comprised of members of the Hilo Visayan Club, religious groups, and other community leaders. Atty. Rose Bautista-Bader, the Executive Assistant to Mayor Harry Kim, was also there to welcome the new Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu.
The following day, Consul General Jimeno was welcomed by members of the Fil-Am Community of East Hawaii (FACEH) during the Installation Ceremony of their newly-elected officials held at YMCA Center in Hilo. About 200 members of the group attended the gathering.

During the two Filipino community events, Consul General Jimeno emphasized the importance of mobilizing migrant Filipinos in making positive contributions to their host localities as well as the Philippines. Filipinos and Americans with Filipino blood comprises 22.1% of the total population of the County of Hawai’i, the largest non-White ethnic group in the island. If harnessed well, Filipinos would have a stronger voice in policy-making, business, and community life. Consul General Jimeno encouraged members of the Filipino community to come together and make an impact in the lives of their fellow Filipinos and those in the communities they live in. (END)
