(2 Mar 2018, Honolulu, Hawaii) Mr. Noel Cabangon, a multi-awarded Filipino singer-songwriter and musical director for theater, paid a courtesy call on Consul General Joselito A. Jimeno at the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, Hawaii on 2 March 2018.

Mr. Cabangon is in Honolulu, upon the invitation of Mr. Ramon Sumibcay, an active Filipino community leader, to grace the launch of “Noli Me Tangere, The Musical” last 25 February 2018 at the Filipino Community Center. Said musical will be shown in Honolulu sometime in August 2018.

He also made live performances during his visits to Filipino American radio programs at KNDI and KPHI stations.

During the call, Consul General Jimeno and Mr. Cabangon had friendly, candid exchange of views on the current state of Filipino music and the common concerns of overseas Filipinos.

A native of Rosario, La Union, Mr. Cabangon started his career as a folk singer in 1982 and since then has been performing in various folk houses and music bars in Metro Manila. He has also performed in several concerts local and abroad. Since the '80s, he was actively involved in the creation and popularization of alternative Filipino music. (END).
