(5 February 2020, Honolulu, Hawaii) – As part of its community engagement and efforts to promote the Philippines as a prime tourist destination, the Philippine Consulate General, represented by Consul Grace Anne G. Bulos, gave a talk about the Philippines for the Waikiki Community Center senior citizens (kupuna) on Tuesday, 4 February 2020.
Ms. Bulos’ presentation covered the Philippines’ geography, climate, people, history, government, economy, and culture. She also showed participants video clips of tourist sites and activities that can be done in the Philippines that would make any visitor’s stay “more fun.”
She noted how the many similarities and shared values between the Philippines and Hawaii have served as a solid foundation for the growth and development of Philippines-Hawaii relations. She also explained the critical role of the Philippine Consulate General in strengthening and deepening the friendship between the Philippines and Hawaii in various aspects such as economic cooperation, and people-to-people links.
She encouraged the seniors who had not yet been to the Philippines to visit the country, and consider joining the Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour on 19 – 26 July 2020, which will take participants to Manila, Iloilo and Boracay.
The Waikiki Community Center is a non-profit organization that serves more than 20,000 seniors, families with young children and other people in need each year. END
