28 May 2010. The Officers and Staff of the Philippine Consulate General celebrated National Flag Day on 28 May 2010 with a Flag Raising Ceremony at the grounds of the Philippine Consulate General. The Philippine Consulate General building was decorated with the tri-color and Philippine flags adorning its many columns.

In his remarks, Consul General Cardenas highlighted the importance of honoring the role of the Philippine flag as a foremost symbol of the country. He enjoined everyone to display the Philippine flag in prominent places at the Consulate and in their private homes.

The commemoration of National Flag Day officially opens the month-long Philippine Independence Day Celebrations in Hawaii. The Philippine Consulate General, the Philippine Celebrations Coordinating Committee of Hawaii and various Filipino Community Organizations will lead in various commemorative activities that will include a Flag Raising Ceremony and Program with Filipino-American Veterans and the Knights of Rizal and a business-sector sponsored Food Festival with Mama Sita.  The main event will be the Dinner-Show-Dance on 12 June 2010 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and will feature Hawaii’s well-renowned Filipino artists. The Gala event will have 600 guests, including senior Hawaii government officials, legislators and leaders of the community.
