21 June 2010. The Philippine Consulate General celebrates the 149th birthday anniversary  of Philippine National hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal with a flag –raising ceremony and offering a lei on Dr. Rizal’s bust at the Philippine Consulate Grounds.   On 19 June 2010, Consul General Leoncio R. Cardenas and Deputy Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes were inducted as Knights of Rizal- Hawaii Chapter.

The Knights of Rizal – Hawaii Chapter has been in the forefront of  notable  socio-civic activities with the Philippine Consulate and the Filipino Community including the relief efforts for Typhoon Ondoy victims and the annual commemoration of Rizal Day. In May 2010, it has successfully lobbied the City Council of Honolulu for the naming of the site in downtownHonolulu where a statue of Dr. Rizal stands as “Dr. Jose P. Rizal Square.”

On 17 July 2010, the Knights of Rizal will host the First Rizal Youth Leadership Institute, a workshop on democratic leadership, character building, global citizenship and public service.
