18 July 2010. Deputy Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes, in his remarks, lauded the many achievements of the Philippine Cultural Foundation of Hawaii, Inc., a well-respected association in Honolulu led by its President, Ms. Maggie Domingo in promoting Philippine culture, the value of education, and in preparing the young Filipinos in Hawaii to community service. Speaking on the occasion of the Little Ms. Philippines – Hawaii Pageant held on 16 July 2010, DCG Cortes also conveyed his congratulations to the five girls vying for the Little Miss Philippines – Hawaii crown. Nyah E. Manuel won the coveted title.
The Little Miss Philippines-Hawaii Pageant is one of the activities presented by the Philippine Cultural Foundation of Hawaii to raise funds for its scholarship program to deserving Filipino students in Hawaii and in the Philippines. The Foundation also presents the Annual Recognition Awards honoring the Parents of the Year and the High School Valedictorians Awards.
The Little Miss Philippines – Hawaii Pageant night was attended by the Foundation’s officers, volunteers and supporters. Honolulu City Mayor Mufi Hannemann also graced the occasion and extended his felicitations to the Foundation and to the Filipino community for their dedication in hosting various Philippine cultural activities that add to Honolulu’s reputation as a vibrant and multi-cultural city.
