2 August 2010.   The Philippine Consulate General, Honolulu remembers Pres. Cory Aquino by offering a holy mass in her honor.  The mass, celebrated on 2 August 2010, in observance of the 1st year anniversary of the death of Pres. Aquino, was held at the Philippine Consulate and officiated by Rev. Fr. Romeo Nietes, Associate Pastor of St. Peter and Paul Church.

In his homily, Fr. Nietes recalled only briefly the many achievements of Pres. Aquino and instead made profound reflections on her deep faith and abiding courage. Amidst personal losses and constant trials, President Aquino was  the epitome of  “faith and courage” the same two traits that define the essence of the Filipino people. The Philippine Chorale sang at the Mass, made more poignant with a solo rendition of “Ave Maria” by Deputy Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes.
