(13 May 2015, Honolulu, Hawaii) Mayor Guia Gomez, Mayor of San Juan City, Philippines, together with eight (8) delegates from the City Government of San Juan, visited the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu and paid a courtesy call on Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin on 12 May 2015.

The delegation will undertake a two-week official study and tour of several cities in the United States, including Honolulu, Maui, San Francisco, Milpitas, Sacramento, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, to renew ties and friendship with these cities.

During the call, Mayor Gomez conveyed her appreciation for the Consulate General’s assistance and warm welcome for the delegation during their visit to Honolulu. She mentioned that the delegation will be meeting with Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa to discuss a possible sister-city relationship between San Juan and Maui.

As tokens of appreciation, Mayor Gomez presented Consul General Jamoralin with a coffee table book on the history of San Juan City and a “Nenita doll”, which is marketed by the city as one of its One Town, One Product (OTOP) merchandise.

To give an authentic Hawaiian welcome to the delegation, Consul General Jamoralin prepared local Hawaiian dishes such as kalua pork, lomi and laulau, to the delight of her guests. (END).
