15 June 2015 - Philippine Consulate General welcomed the presence of Vice-Governor of Ilocos Sur, Deogracias Victor “DV” Savellano and his wife, Ms. Dina Bonnevie-Savellano during the First Filipino Food Fair held on June 07 at the Philippine Consulate grounds.
During the Fair, they commended the Filipino community in Hawaii and the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu for organizing the first Filipino Food Fair which aims to promote the best of Philippine regional dishes in Hawaii. They also appealed to the Ilocano community to help the Ilocos Sur government in promoting Ilocano native products such as the locally woven inabel and in preserving the local inabel weaving industry by training more local young weavers to continue the tradition.
Vice-Governor Savellano also handed over to Consul General Jamoralin a copy of his book, “Ilocos Sur: An Illustrated History” which will be a great addition to the Consulate General’s collection of books about Ilocano history and culture. They were also invited as guests of honor in several Filipino community events that week organized by the Ilocano community in Hawaii. END
