Louisiana Robert G. Romero
1 July 2015 - Philippine Honorary Consul to Louisiana, Robert G. Romero, made a courtesy call on Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin on June 30, 2015 at Philippine Consulate General office in Nuuanu. Mr. Romero, a District Governor of Lions Club International District 8-S, was in Honolulu attending the Lions Club International Convention at the Hawaii Convention Center.
Mr. Romero discussed with Consul General Jamoralin the historical background of Filipinos in New Orleans, particularly, the descendants of Manila Village, the first Filipino community settlement in North America, in the 1700s. He also talked about the Filipinos in Louisiana and the Midwest. Mr. Romero is also the President of the Philippine- Louisiana Historical Society, Inc. (END)
