Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin attended a meeting at the Oahu Veterans Center on 8 August 2015, called by U.S. Senator Mazie Hirono and Retired Major General Antonio Taguba, to discuss two bills pertaining to Filipino World War II Veterans. U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard also attended, while a representative from the office of Senator Brian Schatz, Ms. Joanne Fittante, Community Affairs Representative, was present. Also in attendance was Mr. David Gulick, Director of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The two bills discussed during the meeting were the Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2015 (S.1555) sponsored by Senator Hirono in the Senate and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard in the House of Representatives (HR 2737), and the Family Reunification Act of 2015 sponsored by Senator Hirono (S.733) and Rep. Mark Takai (HR 483). (END).
