Under the theme, “Overcoming Barriers to Access Care”, Philippine Consul General Gina Jamoralin administered the oath of office of the new Officers and Board of Governors of the Philippine Medical Association of Hawaii (PMAH) and its affiliates – Bayanihan Clinic Without Walls, PMAH Foundation and PMAH Ohana Medical Missions, Inc. – at the Coral Ballroom, Hilton Hawaiian Village on January 23, 2016.
Now on its 38th year, the PMAH was created for the purpose of enhancing the professional, social, educational and general welfare of Filipino physicians and the Filipino-American community in Hawaii. It has more than a hundred member physicians all over the State, providing newly arrived immigrants with free medical services, mentoring medical students and organizing medical missions to the Philippines. PMAH members returned from their last medical mission in Payatas landfill, Batangas City and towns of Ilocos Sur last December 10-19, 2015.
Consul General Jamoralin delivered a message commending the organization for its continued dedication to professionalism and public service. She also invited the PMAH to partner with the Philippine Consulate during the latter’s consular outreach missions to the different islands where PMAH members could provide free medical services and counselling to Filipinos availing of consular services. Consul General Jamoralin also highlighted the Consulate’s mandate to provide ATN services to Filipinos in distress . Hawaii Senator Will Espero, Senate Vice-President in his speech called on the Filipino Americans to actively participate in the coming elections both in the United States and the Philippines. Consul General Jamoralin supported the Senator’s call for Filipinos to actively engage in the political process especially Filipinos and dual citizens who registered as Philippine overseas voters.
