On March 28, 2016, US Pacific Command (USPACOM) Commander Admiral Harry Harris Jr. hosted a luncheon and briefing on US strategies and opportunities in the Indo-Pacific area for the benefit of Hawaii’s Consular Corps members. Among those present were Consul Generals from Philippines, South Korea and Marshall Islands ; Deputy Consuls Generals from Japan and New Zealand; and Honorary Consuls for Belgium, France, Germany, Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Independent Samoa, among others.
Admiral Harris Jr. updated the consular corps of recent activities of the US Pacific Command including joint activities with US partners in the Pacific including the Philippines.
The dialogue with the US PACOM officials is an annual activity organized by the Dean of the Consular Corps, the Honorary Consul for Slovenia, retired US Navy and former US Pacific Fleet commander, Admiral R.J. “Zap” Zlatoper.
Philippine Consul General Gina Jamoralin also welcomed the members of the Consular Corps at the Philippine Consulate reception room before proceeding to the USPACOM briefing. (END).
