Ms. Janine Marie Raymundo Tugonon, beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe-Philippines 2012 and placed 1st Runner-Up at Miss Universe 2012 visited the Philippine Consulate in Honolulu on May 13, 2016 and called on Philippine Consul General Gina Jamoralin. Ms. Tugonon came to Hawaii as participant in the 2016 Philippine Fiesta and Parade held on May 14, 2016 at Kapiolani Park across Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. She was accompanied by Filipino community leaders of Hawaii led by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Alimbuyao, Ms. Maggie Domingo and Ms. Edith Gudoy who were members of the organizing committee for the 2016 Philippine Fiesta.

Ms. Tugonon thanked the Philippine Consulate and the Filipino community in Hawaii for their warm welcome and aloha spirit for which Hawaii is famous for. She said that she plans to visit Hawaii again this year to promote a fashion show which she will be co-organizing with another Filipina beauty pageant titleholder.

Consul General Jamoralin said that the Filipino nation is proud of her achievement for winning 1st runner up in the 2012 Miss Universe beauty pageant which only proved the timeless and universal beauty of the Filipino woman. (END).
