The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu conducted consular outreach services to Maui on 15-16 October 2016 for the Filipino community in the island. A total of 161 passport applications were processed, and 45 notarial services were rendered.

Oaths of dual citizenship were administered to 26 former natural-born Filipinos who were naturalized as U.S. citizens.

The mobile consular outreach was made possible by the cooperation of the Maui County Department of Housing and Human Concerns. The outreach was held at the Maui Business Resource Center in Kahului, Maui.

A highlight of the outreach was the surprise visit of Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa, who told the team led by Consul Roberto T. Bernardo that he appreciates the consular outreach services provided by the PCG to the Filipino community since it saves them thousands of dollars. Mayor Arakawa assured the PCG of his continued support. Mayor Arakawa was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Ann Arakawa.

The consular outreach was the third conducted by the PCG in Maui for 2016.END
